Area men have a chance to hear inspirational words from a world-traveling evangelist and a nationally known fishing professional at an event hosted by First Baptist Church.
The Fight Camp Men’s Conference will take place from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at the church, located at 551 N. Westwood Blvd.
“This will be a great night for the men of Poplar Bluff to gather together and to be challenged to be better men, husbands and fathers,” said Pastor Brandon Spain, First Baptist’s lead pastor.
“We will be sharing strategies men can use to succeed with the Lord,” said Pastor Ronnie Coleman of SoulQuest Church in Jackson, Tennessee.
He is the founder of SoulQuest Ministries, an evangelist and a speaker for conferences, rallies and revivals in the U.S. and in foreign countries.
Coleman will be sharing the stage with professional fisherman Hank Parker.
“Hank Parker and I will be tag-team preaching,” Coleman said. “We’re going to body slam the enemy.”
Parker, whose fishing career began in 1976, is the founder of the “Hank Parker Outdoor Magazine” television series and an inductee in the Bass Fishing Hall of Fame, Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame and the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame, according to hankparker.com.
Parker’s YouTube channel features fishing videos and inspirational videos of his own repentance and relationship with Jesus.
“I’m going to give my personal life story and Ronnie is going to be talking about some wonderful things, so you want to be there,” he said in a video posted about the Fight Camp Men’s Conference.
“Pastor Ronnie and Hank are men who love Jesus and want to help other men grow closer in their walk with the Lord,” said Spain. “This is going to be a night that you do not want to miss.”
Food will be provided by John 3:16 Ministries. The spiritual boot camp for men with addictions will be frying fish for the event.
Tickets for the Fight Camp Men’s Conference are available at fightcampmensconference.com for $20 per person. The Fight Camp Men’s Conference will also be held Aug. 17 at Dexter First Baptist and Oct. 12 at Union University Chapel in Jackson, Tennessee.
