The Back to School Bash, organized by Rosa Johnson, is set to kick off at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 29, at the Poplar Bluff Kindergarten Center, located at 1200 Camp Road.
This event, according to Johnson, aims to support and equip students in grades kindergarten through 12th from Butler County for the upcoming academic year. The festivities will run from 2-5 p.m. and promise an array of valuable resources for both parents and students, organizers say.
The Back to School Bash has garnered support from numerous community sponsors, including the Poplar Bluff Municipal Library, the Bread Shed, the Excel Center, the Army Poplar Bluff Recruiting Office, Gates Corporation, Briggs & Stratton, Boys and Girls Club of the Heartland, the Girl Scouts, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Jared Beaird Family Dentistry and Missouri Highlands, among others.
Johnson, the driving force behind this initiative, expressed her enthusiasm for the event.
“We have so many sponsors on board, and this will be an opportunity for parents to access resources while their children receive the supplies they need for school,” she said.
During the event, the library will provide assistance to people in obtaining library cards. Attendees can also receive free haircuts, backpacks, school supplies and face painting.
No registration is required to attend the Back to School Bash. However, to receive supplies, children must be present at the event.
