Three Rivers College hosted more than 40 students this year at their annual Drama Camp. Young performers spent a week learning the ins and outs of stagecraft, culminating in a performance in the Tinnin Fine Arts Center on Friday.
The camp was led Jo Nell Seifert, who was assisted by Carlie Dillinger and student directors Cooper Hornbeck, Abby Murphy and Katelyn Conover.
“This is my 33rd camp, and I’m going to keep doing it as long as I can. These kids are amazing,” said Seifert, a retired teacher.
The impact of her efforts is felt by people like Conover, a Drama Camp alumnus who returned as a student director.
“I really enjoyed directing, that was something I had a lot of fun with, and having this group of kids i got to introduce to something I love,” she said.
Conover joined her first Center Stage production this year in “Beauty and the Beast.”
TRC sophomore Cooper Hornbeck is studying education, and explained theater is an asset for students.
“It works the creative side of their brain for the positive,” he said.
