Let the bidding wars begin: the annual Art for Animals online auction is going live to benefit the Animal Welfare Alliance of Southeast Missouri.

The auction is held online at biddingowl.com, and can be found by searching for Animal Welfare Alliance under featured auctions. Bidders must create an account to participate. There are 111 pieces to choose from, each 5 by 7 inches and made by local artists of all ages and species — there are even some canine artists.

“It’s really a lot of fun,” said AWA board member Charlotte Craig.

The bidding typically brings in over $10,000 for AWA’s community programs and its no-kill shelter in Poplar Bluff, she added. AWA serves Butler, Ripley, Wayne and Carter counties.

Artworks are on display at the Margaret Harwell Art Museum during open hours until the Tail End gallery reception at 6-8 p.m. July 28. This reception is free and open to the public. The auction also ends on July 28.
