Plans are progressing for the annual Women Aware Conference Sept. 21 at the Black River Coliseum. A tentative schedule of breakout sessions includes health, personal and business issues.

The breakout sessions offer a more intimate setting for smaller groups to engage, discuss and make connections, said Cindy-Lou Morgan, conference director. All of the breakout sessions are lead by the area’s business and community leaders.

Sessions dealing with health will include: Heart and Dietitian, both presented by Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center; Sexual Abuse/Intimate Partners by David Conover of the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center; and My Weight Loss Journey by Cat Sharp.

Personal discussions planned are: Your Picture-Perfect World-Filters included by Amanda Wolfram; How do you define yourself? Don’t let definitions fool you!; and Homesteading.

Among the business topics are: Building a Team Culture-It takes a Village; Loving Your Community by Morgan McIntosh; Budgeting by Meredith Rhine; Dress for Success by Aviance Ray; Mentoring In The Workplace by Davine Conover; Getting In The Door (Interview Techniques and Resume Building); and Employee Challenges.

If exercise is something you want to try, consider Amy Hood’s session on Self Defense – Kick Boxing. If you want something a little lighter, think about Marj Hedstrom’s Chair Yoga.

Best-selling author Christy Wright of Nashville, Tennessee, will be the keynote speaker.

The day also includes a fashion show from local boutiques and retail shops, breakfast and lunch, and shopping at local business vendor booths.

Attendees will have an opportunity to make new personal and business acquaintances and renew friendships with others in the community.

Early bird tickets for $45 will be on sale until Sept. 1. Regular ticket sales for $55 end Sept 15.

Tickets may be purchased through the new Women Aware website, at Productive Staffing, 502 Poplar St., Poplar Bluff, or by calling 573-785-4114.
