Curtis Rush

Curtis Lee Rush, 77 years old, of Poplar BluffCurtis Lee Rush, 77 years old, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023.

Curtis was born Dec. 3, 1946. He was the fourth child out of 11 born to Cecil and Irene Rush in East St. Louis, Illinois. Curtis attended Corning High School in Corning, Arkansas. After graduating high school, he was then drafted into the army in 1966, specializing in explosives and demos while serving in the Vietnam War.

Curtis retired from Poplar Bluff School District as a dedicated bus driver.

After retiring, he enjoyed working on lawn mowers, tinkering with cars, playing pool and loved spending time with friends and family.

Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Thomas and Mary Irene Rush; brother, Lon Ray Rush; sister, Mary Laverne David; and brothers, Donnie Rush, Jouel Cecil Rush, and Richard Rush.

He is survived by siblings, Thomas Rush of Paragould, Ark., Floyd Rush of Corning, Gloria Jean Rush of Qulin, Missouri, Colene Jackson of Poplar Bluff, and Melissa Rush of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and an abundance of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2023, with the service immediately following with burial at Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors.
