Butler County firefighters spent more than two hours and 8,000 gallons of water Saturday afternoon extinguishing a hay truck fire on U.S. Highway 60.

According to Butler County Fire Protection District chief Bob Fredwell, firefighters were called at 1:30 p.m. Saturday to the scene of an accident on U.S. Highway 60 between the Black River bridge and Marble Hill Road.

Firefighters found a truck and its payload of approximately 20 hay bales on fire, which had to be removed from the truck and extinguished separately on the side of the highway.

No one was injured in the accident, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.
