Poplar Bluff firefighters responded to US Bank, 2024 N. Westwood Blvd., Poplar Bluff, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 3. They did a walk-through of the building because a loud popping sound was heard from the electrical room.
According to the report by Capt. Kevin D. Edgar, the crew met with the manager who stated a breaker tripped and there had been issues with the electrical in the past. A thermal imaging camera was used to check the panels and the area for any signs of overheating. They noticed one of the breakers in the panel was warmer than any of the others. After showing the manager, they shut that breaker off. They did not find any further problems, but advised the manager an electrician should inspect all the electrical system, correct the problem breaker and any other issues.

Firefighters responded at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, to an unauthorized burn at Sixth Street and Park Avenue. They found a small burned out fire and advised the occupant of the city burn codes.

Firefighters responded at 8:48 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, to a vehicle accident at 3055 Oak Grove Road to clean up the scene. They used a booster hose and 30 gallons of water to wash down the area where engine fluids leaked from the vehicle.

Firefighters responded at 11:52 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, to 506 Don St. to a smoke scare.
According to Lt. Travis Taylor, the caller said the occupant could smell smoke from the dryer. The firefighters could not smell smoke, but used the thermal imaging camera to look at the dryer plug and the breaker box. They didn’t show an abnormal temperature. The occupant did have lots of items stacked on top of the dryer and the dryer was not vented to the outside. A sock was being used to catch lint. The occupant was advised of the dangers of stacking a lot of items on the dryer and not venting the dryer properly.

Firefighters responded at 1:39 p.m. Thursday, May 4, to a carbon monoxide incident at 1515 Rosedale St.
According to Lt. Josh Robison, the resident was on the porch when they arrived. She explained, she felt fine but her alarm kept going off. The crew searched the house with air monitors and found nothing. The detector going off was more than six years old and determined to be malfunctioning. They advised she purchase a new one.

Firefighters responded to an unauthorized burning at 902 Henderson Avenue at 3:42 a.m. Friday, May 5. They advised the resident of the city burn ordinance and the resident put out the fire.
