At 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, officers responded to Break Time at 2940 N. Westwood Blvd for a reported drug overdose. The victim was transported by ambulance to the emergency room.

At 9:18 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, an employee at Enterprise Car Rental reported a gray 2022 Dodge pickup stolen after a customer failed to return it to the company.

At 10:17 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, Mecos Neal reported he received a fraudulent check from an unidentified third party. Neal cashed the check and sent the proceeds to the suspect by wire transfer and that check was later returned as a forged check.

At 1:09 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, Sally Thurman reported her car was struck by a blue Dodge pickup in the parking lot at Hayden’s Drive In at 807 W. Maud St.
At 1:12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, an employee at Kroger at 2770 N. Westwood Blvd reported a white male stole several bags of ice from the cooler at the front of the business.

At 1:43 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, an employee at First Midwest Bank reported a $65,000 check deposited by a customer was returned to the bank as a forged check.

Carlos Hernandez, 45, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested at 5:54 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, at a residence in the 1600 block of North 14th Street. Hernandez was booked on a charge of domestic assault third degree, and he was lodged in the Butler County jail.

At 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, officers responded to the 1000 block of Nooney Street for a report of an adult male with a firearm suffering a mental health crisis. After a short standoff, the adult male was secured, disarmed, and taken to the hospital for evaluation.

At 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, an employee at Million Law Office at 2408 Crestwood reported someone broke into the building and stole a gun safe holding firearms, cash, checks, and documents.

Jacob Hayes, 22, of St Louis, was arrested at 11:21 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, at Jay’s Corner Store at 1040 S. Broadway. Hayes was booked on a Moniteau County, California warrant for sexual misconduct with a child under 15 years of age with no bond and he was lodged in the Butler County jail.

On Wednesday, May 3, an employee at Poplar Bluff High School reported a juvenile student was in possession of a THC vaping device. The vaping device was seized and placed into evidence, and the matter was referred to the juvenile office. No time was listed on this incident.
