Poplar Bluff Firefighters responded to building fire at South F and Plum streets at 10:42 p.m. Tuesday, April 11.
According to Capt. Toby Tuggle’s report, the small structure or shed was burning on the ground when they arrived. The seven firefighters used 500 gallons of water to put out the fire. The building owner was Phillip Lee of South F Street.

Poplar Bluff Firefighters responded at 2:26 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, to a carbon monoxide incident at the Public Defenders office, 948 Lester St.
According to the report by Battalion Chief Jeffrey L. Hale, the detector showed 65 parts per million when he checked the office. Spire Gas came up with the same amount. The property owner stated someone had been running a forklift in the basement. When firefighters checked the basement, they determined that was the source of the carbon monoxide. They opened the basement garage door and set up the positive pressure ventilation fans on the main floor to clear out the building.

Firefighters responded at 3:52 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at Kanell Boulevard and Shelby Road.
According to the report by Lt. Justin Maddock, when crews arrived a trash truck was turned over on its side in the intersection of Kanell Boulevard and Shelby Road and a car was off the roadway in a ditch.
Poplar Bluff Police were on the scene directing traffic. Firefighters checked those involved for injures. The driver of the car was pregnant and had a child who received injuries from the crash. Butler County EMS arrived and took over patient care.
Fire crews applied absorbent on the roadway to take care of the leak from the trash truck and Barker’s Towing removed the vehicles. Firefighters assisted in cleaning debris from the roadway; a 2-inch line and 100 gallons water were used to wash it away.
Seven firefighters were on the scene.

Firefighters were dispatched at 5:01 p.m. Thursday, April 13, to vehicle fire in the alleyway of 724 Kinzer St. within 30 feet of a structure.
According to Battalion Chief Thomas Lane, the six firefighter found a small fire in the engine compartment of a 1996 Ford Ranger owned by Larry Rushing. They used two gallons of water to put out the fire.

Firefighters responded at 5.16 p.m. Friday, April 14, to Barron Road and 14th Street for a two-vehicle accident with unknown injuries.
According to the report by Lt. Andrew Fox, the occupants were out of the vehicles. Fox and Firefighter Kenneth Felts checked patients for injuries until Emergency Medical Services arrived. Firefighters started traffic control until all emergency vehicles could clear the roadway. Five firefighters responded the scene.

Firefighters responded at 1:25 p.m. Friday, April 14, at Poplar Bluff Junior High School to a reported fire alarm.
According to Battalion Chief Stacy Harmon, a maintenance worker met the firefighters and explained the alarm panel was showing in a classroom on the lower level. The crew located the activated sensor, which was set off accidentally by a glue melting devise used in the classroom. The alarm was reset. Seven firefighters responded.

While electrical services were out Saturday, April 15, through many areas of Poplar Bluff, firefighters were called to two locations within minutes of each other.
The first call to Northwest Medical Center, 2210 Barron Road, came in at 7:38 p.m. and the second to Gates Corporation, 1650 Rowe, at 7:42 p.m.
According to Lt. Justin R. Maddock, when the five firefighters responded to Northwest Center no smoke or fire was showing. The building was without electricity. He contacted building maintenance personnel to advise him of the situation. Using the Knox Box, the crew entered the building to check for any problems. After checking, Maddock again contacted maintenance personnel and secured the Knox Box.
According to Capt. Justin D. Moyers, the firefighters were met at Gates’ front door and informed the alarm went off due to a power failure and there was no fire. Five firefighters responded to the call.

Firefighters responded to a carbon monoxide alarm at 2417 Barron Road at 8:47 p.m. Saturday, April 15. The resident thought it was the carbon monoxide detector. Upon investigating, they learned it was the sump pump alarm in the basement and helped turn the alarm off. Two firefighters responded to the call.

Firefighters responded to a smell of smoke at Ulta Beauty, 797 N. Westwood Blvd., at 10 p.m. Saturday, April 15.
According to Battalion Chief Jeffrey L. Hale, firefighters were unable to find or smell anything. The building and the breakers were inspected and nothing wrong was located. The seven on-duty firefighters and Fire Chief Michael Moffitt responded.

Firefighters responded to 1302 W. Harper St. to assist an emergency medical services crew to load a patient on a stretcher and then into an ambulance at 9:29 p.m. Saturday, April 15.

Firefighters responded to a special outside fire at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, 3100 Oak Grove Road, at 11:18 a.m. Monday, April 17.
According to Capt. Toby Tuggle, firefighters found mulch burning around the north entrance sign. The crew used 20 gallons of water to put out the fire.

Firefighters responded to an unauthorized burning at 1903 Raulston Avenue at 9:28 p.m. Monday, April 17. The crew found an unauthorized burn behind the house causing smoke in the neighborhood. The firefighters used 20 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

At 1 a.m. Tuesday, April 18, firefighters responded to a reported structure fire in the area of Alice and Garfield streets.
Firefighters located a trash fire in a metal can in the back yard of 2025 Alice St. The occupant extinguished the fire. Seven firefighters had responded.
