The LOL LOL — Little Old Ladies Laughing Out Loud — quilting group is asking for a willing volunteer to step up and take charge of their annual Labor Day Quilt Show. It will take place Sept. 2, in conjunction with the annual Labor Day Homecoming Parade.
The annual show has gained momentum over the past several years, and the quilters want to see it continue, said Pam Shaver of Current River Fabrics and Quilting.
“The lady who previously managed the event can’t do it this year. We just need someone who will fill that position,” she said.
The group will continue to help out in an advisory capacity and offer assistance with set up the day before and on the day of the show, she said.
“The process has been pretty well streamlined through the years and runs quite smoothly,” said Shaver.
The manager will be responsible for coordinating the event; distributing flyers, contacting area quilt shops about the event, setting up the day before the show and organizing the quilts.
The manager will oversee the check in process, making sure the number on each quilt matches the claim tag.
“Following the event, the manager will need to make sure to return the quilt to the right person,” said Schaver.
“We will also have a raffle to give away a quilt made by the LOL LOL group, and we need someone to manage ticket sales prior to and the day of the show,” said Shaver.
There will be people’s choice ribbons awarded for the winning quilts, and the manager will oversee voting for that, she said.
Anyone who is interested in helping out is asked to contact her at her place of business at 573-996-1888 or drop by and visit with her at 107 Washington Street.
