It promises to be a busy weekend in the region, with this week’s MAIN EVENT including an Easter Egg hunt, World War II reenactments, a Duck’s Unlimited fundraiser to preserve area wetlands, live music and much more. It promises to be a busy weekend in the region, with this week’s MAIN EVENT including an Easter Egg hunt, World War II reenactments, a Duck’s Unlimited fundraiser to preserve area wetlands, live music and much more.

What might be the season’s first community egg hunt will take place at Hendrickson Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. It will include hot dogs, candy, prizes and of course, Easter eggs. Keep an eye on the MAIN EVENT in coming weeks for more events like this.

The Stars and Stripes Museum at Bloomfield is also hosting its annual World War II weekend from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, which will include weapons displays, WWII vehicles, concessions and more.

Both of these events are free.

For those looking to support a worthy cause, a Ducks Unlimited fundraiser will be held Saturday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. at Eagles Post 4066 at Wappapello Lake. Money raised helps with wetland conservation. The event includes auctions, games and a tier raffle with multiple chances to win high end guns like Kimber and Henry. Tickets are $25-$65.

— March Lunch & Learn: Colorectal Cancer Awareness, 12-1 p.m. March 24. WHERE PBRMC Classroom 3. COST Free. WHAT Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center invites the public to learn from GI specialists about cancer screenings, preventative measures and maintaining a healthy colon.

— Jason Heeter performs, 8-11 p.m. March 24 WHERE The Marked Bar & Grill WHAT Music with a bluesy rock sound, influenced by JJ Cale, Jason Isbell, Bill Withers and the Grateful Dead, Heeter performs with The AC’s.

— World War II Weekend, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 25. WHERE The National Stars and Stripes Museum and Library, Bloomfield. COST Free admission. WHAT Families are invited to immerse themselves in WWII. Reenactors will be on site with displays in a WWII-era barracks. There will be a weapons demonstration, a German display, WWII vehicles and more. Paradise Concessions is serving lunch.

— Community Easter Egg Hunt, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. March 25. WHERE Hendrickson Park. COST Free. WHAT Join Diverse Living Experiences (DLE) Properties Group-Keller Williams Realty Three Rivers for this event, which will include hotdogs, three age divisions for hunting eggs, candy, prizes and more. Co-Sponsors for the event are Butler County Title Co. and USA Mortgage.

— Ernie Powell Memorial Scholarship Fund cornhole tournament fundraiser, 1 p.m. March 25. WHERE Poplar Bluff Elk’s Lodge COST registration, $20, teams of 2. WHAT Doors open at 1 p.m., events begin at 3 p.m. ACL rules apply. Percentage payout to winner, with trophies for first, second and third place. Includes food, a silent auction and a gun raffle. Funds help provide a scholarship for a East Carter High School senior.

— “But God” women’s event, 5 p.m. March 25 WHERE The Bluff Church COST $5 WHAT Features worship, teaching and fellowship. Food trucks will be available from 4-5 p.m. Tickets available at thebluffchurch.com or at the door.

— Atlanta Rhythm Section and Pure Prairie League, 6 p.m. March 25. WHERE Black River Coliseum. COST $25-$75. WHAT An evening of songs, stories and American rock by two legendary bands, Atlanta Rhythm Section and Pure Prairie League, both celebrating their 50th Anniversary.

— Teen Crafting: T-Shirt Painting, 4-5 p.m. March 27. WHERE Poplar Bluff Municipal Library Ridgel Branch. COST Free. WHAT Grades 7-12 are invited to make custom t-shirt paintings. Participants must bring their own shirt and can create their own designs or use the provided stencils. For best results, please bring a white cotton shirt that has been pre-washed.
