The Neelyville High School gymnasium will be transformed into a ballroom April 1 for the annual Daddy Daughter dance.

“The main goal of this event is to give our community an opportunity to get dressed up and make memories,” organizer Brandi Lumby said. “With this being our seventh year, we have actually watched little girls mature into young ladies. It is truly is a special event.”

Lumby is the junior and senior high school cheer coach. The money raised will go toward the costs associated with the cheer teams’ seasons and competition uniforms.

Dance attire for the dads and daughters ranges from Sunday best to formal, but mostly formal, Lumby said.

“It is open to all girls, most will be from Neelyville but we do have the occasional friend or family member from another school,” Lumby said. “There also isn’t an age limit. It is up to the parents to decide if this dance would be something their daughter would like because we have had some preschoolers.”

The night, which is from 6-9 p.m., will begin with a Grand March “which mothers and grandmothers adore, followed by a light dinner and dancing,” Lumby said. “This year, we have also added a mirror photo booth we are extremely excited about.”

A ticket costs $40 for a “Daddy Daughter” couple, with an additional $15 if the father is escorting an additional daughter, Lumby said.

Lumby will send out and post registration forms soon, but she added anyone is “welcome to email me to get signed up as well.”

Her email address is blumby@neelyville.k12.mo.us.
