Mary Mollie (Wooten) Temple, 93, passed away peacefully Feb. 23, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Mary was born to George and Beulah Wooten on June 25, 1929 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Her siblings were the late Velma Perry, Bessie Woolsey, Marie Winder, Lora Barnhill, Jesse Wooten, Hazel Mallady, Stella Wooten, Geraldine Carpenter and Alma Jean Gulledge.

She married John A. Logan Temple June 2, 1947, in Piggott, Arkansas. He preceded her in death April 13, 1994, after 47 years of marriage.

Mary and John managed Keener Springs Resort in Williamsville, Missouri for many years. Guests enjoyed fishing, canoing, and camping at this beautiful resort. Many friendships were formed while families explored and vacationed with Mary and John.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Gloria Eastman (Glen) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her son, John Temple (Marie) of Trimble, Missouri; four grandchildren, Sarah Pederson (Jared), David Temple (Natasha), Jon Eastman (Michelle) and Erin Prescott. Mary has nine amazing great-grandchildren, Brittany Smith (Chet), Ben Dick, Jamie and Will Pederson, Carter Temple, Hayley and Landon Prescott, Everett and Sawyer Eastman; and three great-great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Savannah and Sloane Smith. She leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, and their families.

Mary worked at Gates Rubber Co. from 1986-2007 where she enjoyed many friendships over the years. She loved attending her retiree luncheons.

Mary sang in a quartet with her sisters, Geraldine and Alma Jean, a friend, Floyd Garrett and pianist, Fannie Bates at Collins Chapel on Woodrow Street in Poplar, Bluff, Missouri. Many residents of Butler County requested the quartet to sing a favorite hymn to them as they were passing away. The quartet would “sing them into heaven,” comforting many families in the community.

Mary was a member of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. During her life, she served the Lord and read her Bible faithfully. She could still quote her many favorite scriptures; Psalm 24: 1, and Psalm 46:10.

She has been a resident at Benton House at Staley Hills, Missouri, where she enjoyed many friendships and much loving care. She was a faithful servant of God who devoted her life to family and friends.

A visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at Cotrell Willow Ridge Funeral Chapel, 1100 Iron Bridge Road, Poplar Bluff, Missouri. A graveside service will immediately follow at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery, with Rev. Brandon Spain officiating.

Please pass on a kindness in lieu of flowers.
