As one of my daughters told me, “Heaven gained an angel today” in the passing of 96-year-old Lula Jane (Watson) Moffitt. She passed away peacefully at her home Feb. 20, 2023, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Jane was born Oct. 28, 1926 in Pollard, Arkansas, to Loy R. and Zora May (Underwood) Watson.
Jane was happily married to Dalphus O. Moffitt May 9, 1949, in Piggott, Arkansas, a marriage that lasted for 63 years until his passing Jan. 3, 2013, and of this union no children were born. Only the many nieces and nephews that at times blessed her home with a visit that lit her face with a smile! Many of us were her children.
Jane is survived by many nieces and nephews along with many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Loy R. and mother Zora Watson; her husband Dalph Moffitt; sister, Jerrylean Ivester and brother-in-law Bert Ivester of Onaway, Michigan; also sister Edna Jean Wheeler and brother-in-law David Wheeler of Piggott, Arkansas, and passing before their time were six nephews, John and Stanley Ivester, Donnie, Bobby, Leon, and Todd Moffitt and one niece was lost, Sandra Ivester.
