JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — State Rep. Cameron Bunting Parker officially began her service to the people of the 150th House District after taking the oath of office on Wednesday, Jan. 4, which marked the first day of the 2023 legislative session.

“I hope to utilize my experience as an attorney to be a strong voice for the people of the 150th District as we discuss and debate complex policy proposals that can impact our families and communities,” said Parker, R-Campbell.

The 163 members of the Missouri House of Representatives were sworn into office by Missouri Supreme Court Justice W. Brent Powell. Parker and her colleagues then elected state Rep. Dean Plocher, R-St. Louis, to serve as Speaker of the House for the 102nd General Assembly.

During her first weeks in office, Parker received her committee assignments from Speaker Plocher, who entrusted her with the position of vice chair for the House Professional Registration and Licensing Committee. Plocher also selected Parker to serve on the House Committees on Judiciary, Insurance Policy, and Agriculture Policy.

“I want to thank Speaker Plocher for giving me the opportunity to serve on committees that address many of the issues that are important to the people of my district. I’m excited to have the opportunity to help lead a committee during my first term in office, and eager to get to work with my colleagues to enact policies that cut the bureaucratic red tape that can stifle healthy growth in the fields regulated by the state,” she said.

Her priority going forward will be providing her people with a voice in government.

“There is so much to do, but I really think the most important thing is to be a voice for Southeast Missourians,” she explained, alongside fellow representative Hardy Billington.

Parker was elected to her first term in the Missouri House in November 2022. She represents District 150, which encompasses Dunklin County, southern Pemiscot County, and southern & western Butler County.

Parker is a lifelong Southeast Missourian whose passion for law was inspired by her mother, who taught history and government for over 30 years.

In addition to her legislative duties, she maintains her law firm in Malden.
