The Missouri State Fire Marshal is investigating a fatal Friday morning that occurred in the area of highways T and KK.
According to reports from the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, the deceased man is 76-year-old Darrell Robirtson.
Butler County Coroner Jim Akers said it appears at this time to be an accidental death due to the fire, but he is awaiting the fire marshal’s report.
Akers said nothing seems suspicious. Akers said the victim appears to have been using a cutting torch just prior to the fire.
According to the sheriff’s report, Robirtson had been in a the workshop at the property for 20 to 25 minutes when the family realized there was a fire.
Four units of Butler County Fire Department responded to fight the fire. Along with the fire crews, Butler County Sheriff’s Department, the Butler County coroner and Butler County EMS responded to the fire.
The sheriff’s department report lists the call came into the sheriff’s office at 9:57 a.m.
