Surrounded by family, Florine Alice Engelhardt, 95, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away peacefully in her sleep Jan. 7, 2023.
She was born April 8, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Floyd J. and Lucille M. Smith. In 1948 she married Dr. Robert Christopher Engelhardt in St. Louis. After a brief stint in New York City, they moved to Poplar Bluff, Missouri, where they would build a home, raise their family and develop many wonderful lifelong friendships, especially with the folks in their much-loved Friday Night Group.
Florine enjoyed life to the fullest and had great joy traveling with family to many beautiful places throughout the world, she especially loved going on cruises. She took immense pride in her collections of Waterford, Lalique, Belleek, and Hummels. She loved to shop and was always on the lookout for a really great bargain. As an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, she cheered her Redbirds to the very end.
In 2014 she moved to Hot Springs to be closer to family and fulfill a longtime dream of one day living on the water.
She is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Dr. Robert Christopher Engelhardt; her parents; three grandchildren, Adam Matthew Wilcutt, Tracy Michelle Wilcutt, and Ami Elizabeth Beard; sister, Marian Lewis; and nephew, Jerry Lewis.
Loving survivors include her three children, Jan Wilcutt (Gary) of Easton, Kansas, Jim Engelhardt and Judy Beard, both of Hot Springs, Arkansas; grandsons, Shane Wilcutt and Nick Beard (Brandy); two great-grandchildren, Adam Wilcutt and Jacen Rye; nieces, Gail Wuebbels, Patti Vollman, and Donna Lewis.
A memorial service in Florine’s honor will be held at a later date in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
