Steven Billy Lomax, 69, of Sikeston, Missouri, passed away Friday, Jan.6, 2023, at his home. He was born Aug. 28, 1953, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Billy Braden Lomax and Troyce Ann Rollins Lomax. Steven Billy Lomax, 69, of Sikeston, Missouri, passed away Friday, Jan.6, 2023, at his home.

He was born Aug. 28, 1953, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to the late Billy Braden Lomax and Troyce Ann Rollins Lomax.

Steve or “Lomax” as many knew him, worked for Ralph Distributing for 28 years before retiring. He was well known in the Sikeston community and loved by many friends. Steve was a member of the Sikeston Jaycees for over 40 years. He also ran and operated Big Lo’s Stand at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo for 40 years. In the year 2000 he was a recipient of the Art Saunders Award presented by the Sikeston Jaycees and received awards for Jaycee of the month and quarter several times. Steve was also well known for coaching many years with the Sikeston Jaycee Little League Football Program. In 2002 he was named as a member of the Sikeston Parks Department Honors Board. He was a proud supporter of The Bluff Church in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Sleep in Heavenly Peace Poplar Bluff Chapter. He was also a long time Honorary Member of the Missouri Sheriffs Association. Steve loved his family and was very grateful for all his friends.

He is survived by one brother, Ronald Keith (Karen) Lomax of Farmington, Arkansas; two sisters, Luann (David) Elledge of Poplar Bluff, and Lana Lomax of St. Louis, Missouri; six nieces and nephews, Braden (Katelynn) Lomax of St. Charles, Missouri, Kaylan (Sam) Altis of Santa Cruz, California, Luke (Leslie) Elledge of Poplar Bluff, Lyndsee (Brandon) Moon of Poplar Bluff, Lauren Hasanov of St. Charles, and Kelsey (Daniel) Shields of Ackworth, Georgia; and seven great-nephews and five great-nieces.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, Jan. 10, 2023, beginning at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, Missouri. The memorial Service will be Wednesday morning, Jan. 11, 2023, starting at 11 a.m.
