__Poplar Bluff Fire Department__
Poplar Bluff Firefighters responded at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, to a report of a structure fire at 122 Barlett St. Arriving at the scene firefighters saw what looked like the glow of fire through the glass block window on the second floor of the building. As they exited the truck, a light came on in the room and the glow went out. They contacted the owner who lives on the upper floor of the building and determined the glow was a floor heater with red and orange lights which comes on when the heater activates. There was no fire.

Firefighters responded at 7:56 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, to a carbon monoxide incident at 604 Hazel St. Number C. They used the air monitor to check for carbon monoxide and did discover a small amount of carbon monoxide. The gas company and the Poplar Bluff Housing authority maintenance were both contacted and responded. The tenant had been cooking before the alarm sounded. The gas company stated there should not be any further issues. Housing replaced the carbon monoxide/smoke detector with a new one.

Firefighters responded at 5:43 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, to a passenger vehicle fire in the driveway of 1326 Davis St. They extinguished the fire in the engine compartment of the 2008 maroon Dodge Caliber passenger vehicle owned by Amare White. They disconnected the battery by cutting the battery cables to prevent any further problems. The home was not damaged. Firefighters used 40 gallons of water.

Firefighters responded at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, to a motor vehicle accident with no injuries on Broadway in front of Soapy Suds. Upon arrival firefighters found an SUV in the business parking lot had rolled, collided with a power pole no longer in service and landed right side up. The occupant was out of the vehicle and not injured. Poplar Bluff police also responded.

Firefighters responded at 1:11 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, to a two vehicle motor vehicle accident with injuries at 400 E. Pine Blvd. They checked occupants for injuries until Butler County EMS arrived and helped direct traffic until the vehicles were cleared from the roadway.
