Rev. Peter M. Soens, 83, of Farmington passed away Jan. 4, 2023 at Camelot Skilled Nursing in Farmington.

He was born Dec. 22, 1939 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Pete was a member of the Missouri East Conference – United Methodist Church and Mineral Area Woodcarvers.

Pete attended the Poplar Bluff School District from elementary through high school. His undergraduate studies were conducted at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff and Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. He completed graduate school at Perkins School of Theology at S.M.U. Dallas, Texas. Pete served as a United Methodist Minister for 32 years in several churches throughout Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lillie Belle (Mayse) Soens; father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Helen Hayes; grandparents, Walter and Mae Sliger; two brothers, Randy Soens and Jerry Soens; two sisters, Donna Cox and Debbie Baucom.

Pete is survived by his loving wife, Connie (Hayes) Soens; sister, Judy Brown; sister-in-law, Judy Soens.

Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2023 at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington. Visitation will resume Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Farmington until the time of service at 10 a.m. with Rev. Ron Beaton officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington. Memorial donations may be made to either the Farmington or Park Hills Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.
