David “Rodney” Hathaway, 77, of Jackson, Missouri passed away Dec. 2, 2022, in his home surrounded by his family.
David was born Feb. 8, 1945, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri to Jesse Lee and Gladys Hathaway who preceded him in passing. David was married to his beautiful wife Linda Mae (Vinson) Hathaway, who also preceded him in passing. Surviving David are his three children, Cary Wayne Hathaway of Jackson, Leslie Lashay Hathaway of Poplar Bluff, and Shannon Lee Hathaway of Delta, Missouri, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
David has two surviving brothers, Karrol (Noma) Hathaway of St. Ann, Missouri, and Sammy Hathaway of Jefferson City, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
All other brother and sisters have preceded him in passing, Bonnie (Lloyd) Emerson, MaryLee (Edwin) Bullock, Pat (Junior) Farris, Dixie (Carl) Ham, Lenore (Donald) Nelson, Lionel Hathaway. He meant the world to all of his loved ones.
David served in the United States Army and was a Sentry Dog Handler. David was employed for several years at the VA Hospital in Poplar Bluff, where he retired. David was also a Fireman at the Poplar Bluff City Fire Department for many years. David enjoyed watching old movies, singing and watching the boats in the Mississippi river.
There will be a viewing at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar St., Poplar Bluff, Dec. 8, 11 a.m. to noon for family and noon to 1 p.m. for close friends and public. Service will begin at 1 p.m. followed by burial at City Cemetery.
