Dean Allen Armstrong Sr., 77, of Wappapello, Missouri, passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, at Puxico Nursing and Rehab in Puxico, Missouri.
Mr. Armstrong was born Nov. 21, 1944, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, son of the late John and Esther Armstrong. He married Lola Matheney Armstrong in April of 1977. She preceded him in death on March 2, 2007.
Dean’s parents were founding members of Lake Wappapello United Methodist Church in Wappapello where he remained a member for the rest of his life. He had a strong work ethic and truly enjoyed working. He took pride in being a lifelong lumberjack and was well known for his skill. Dean had a positive outlook on life and never spoke unkind words of anyone. He was thoughtful, generous, and kind, and he never met a stranger. His cheerful personality and beautiful smile lit up any room he entered.
Dean is survived by four children: Michael (Jessica) Armstrong and Jesse (Sarah) Armstrong, all of Wappapello, Rebecca Armstrong of Dexter, and Matthew (Erin) Armstrong of Puxico; nine grandchildren: Kendall McNew, Clayton, Jordan, Brooke, Gage, Jessa, Drake, Ellie, and Josie Armstrong; and two great-grandchildren: Remington Armstrong and Oliver McNew; and one sister Carole Marie Richard of Wappapello.
In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by one son: Dean Allen Armstrong, Jr; and two siblings: John Armstrong and Willaneta Pieroni.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2022, at Lake Wappapello United Methodist Church in Wappapello. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at Richmann Cemetery in Wappapello.
