The Poplar Bluff High School Pom Squad has earned the opportunity to compete at the National Dance Alliance in Orlando, Florida, in March 2023. It comes after recently participating in NDA Camp.
First-year PBHS Pom Squad coach Ashley Griffin said, “Coaching this team for the first time at camp was so rewarding. They worked extremely hard to push past challenges brought on by camp. I’m so proud of their growth from day one to now and look forward to watching them compete at the national level.”
One student on the squad, Bayli Czerwonka, said, “I am so excited we get the opportunity to compete at nationals! We have worked very hard and we have a chance to prove it.”
The Pom Squad will be raising money throughout the school year to sponsor the cost of the upcoming trip and they are hoping for community support.
A Morning with Santa event is planned from 10 a.m.-noon, Dec. 3, at Mirror Lake Resort Bed and Breakfast, 2896 West Lakeview Drive. Haffy’s will offer proceeds from their Music Bingo night, which starts at 7 p.m., Dec. 14, and the Pom Squad will also host a Princess for a Day event with dates soon to be announced.
“We have worked incredibly hard this season and want the opportunity to show that,” said Griffin. “It is my first year as the coach, but the girls have made leaps and bounds in just a few short months and I think they’ve earned it.”
