The Lions Club estimates around 30 volunteers, along with students from the Sierra Osage Center served 1,000 bowls of chili to area residents Tuesday. The food was prepared and distributed from the Poplar Bluff Knights of Columbus location.

Larry Kimbrow, secretary of the Lions Club, said it took two days to do the prep work and chopping to get everything ready for the meal.

This is an annual Election Day tradition and fundraiser for the Lions Club.
