Mary Arnold, 87 of Naylor, Missouri passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children Monday, Nov. 7, 2022 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Mary was born March 10, 1935, in Naylor to the late Rev. George Owens and Ellen Nancy (Faulk) Owens. She attended the Fairdealing Apostolic Church.

Mary loved her family. All of her grandchildren have sat on her lap only to be mesmerized by Grandma Arnold telling them about the Three Little Pigs or Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

Mary had the gift of hospitality. She loved to cook and made the best turkey and dressing ever. Her marinated cucumbers were requested often, and she was always happy to make them.

Mary loved to shop. She enjoyed doing puzzles with her great grand kids. She never tired of making her family happy. Mary made everyone feel special.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma Wertenberger, and son-in-law ,Terry Wertenberger, of Naylor, and her son, Terry Arnold, and daughter-in-law, Janet Arnold, of Fairdealing, Missouri.

Also, her sister, Maxine Joy of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and her dear friend Shelba (Turner) Johnson. Mary, Maxine and Shelba were known as the family’s “Golden Girls” and they had many great times together.

She is survived by her four grandchildren, Tamara Day of Poplar Bluff, Brian Wertenberger of Williamsville, Missouri, Kayla Thomas of Oxly, Missouri and Autumn Kiefer of St. Louis, Missouri. Mary was blessed with eight treasured great-grandchildren, Lucas, Maddie, Auanna, Tessa, Dominic, Emmett, Avory and Arianna. She is also survived by her cat Rover.

Mary’s husband Norman P. Arnold passed away May 5, 2002. They were happily married for 54 years.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings. Minnie Taylor, Lizzie Davis, Rosie Sutton, Edna Wilkerson, Maxalena Owens, and Homer Owens.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. till 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022. A graveside service will take place immediately after the visitation, at Fairdealing Cemetery officiated by Mary’s friend and pastor, Brother Arlen West. Pallbearers well be Brian Wertenberger, Harvey King, Chad Jones, Travis Thomas, Tyler Turner and Rick Wilkerson. Fowler and Sons Funeral Home of Neelvyille, Missouri in charge of all services.
