DONIPHAN — Attorney Devin Kirby will bring 18 years of experience to the office of Ripley County’s associate judge.
His name will appear unopposed on the Nov. 8 general election ballot.
Kirby, the son of Leotis and Donna Kirby, and grandson of Lee and Georgia Kirby, chose to return home after law school to set up his own practice.
He is married to Angel (formerly Oldham) who is a Doniphan High School counselor, and the daughter of Tom and Laura Oldham.
Kirby says, “I believe my experience has prepared me to be able to faithfully and impartially perform the duties of the associate judge in Ripley County.”
He says, “I believe an attorney who has extensive experience litigating cases in a variety of different areas of the law is qualified to faithfully and impartially perform the duties of a judge.”
As an elected official he feels the best way to get the public involved in county issues is to continue to be proactive in government. “We need to continue to inform them about what those issues are, through town hall-style meetings, social media and the newspaper,” he says.
He currently serves on the R-I school board.
The Kirbys have two children, Gracen, 18, and Makanna, 14, and they are members of the First Baptist Church of Doniphan.
In his spare time, the future judge enjoys coaching the Nets girls' travel basketball team.
