Floyd Smith, 73, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, in Poplar Bluff. He was born Oct. 13, 1949, in Gideon, Missouri, to Burl “Watermelon” and Maudie Mae (Davis) Smith, who both preceded him in death. A long-time resident of Butler County, and a member of First Assembly of God Church, Floyd was a hard worker who took a great deal of pride in caring for his family. ...

Floyd Smith, 73, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Oct. 13, 1949, in Gideon, Missouri, to Burl “Watermelon” and Maudie Mae (Davis) Smith, who both preceded him in death.

A long-time resident of Butler County, and a member of First Assembly of God Church, Floyd was a hard worker who took a great deal of pride in caring for his family. He was a very positive person who always welcomed everyone with a smile and liked to BBQ. He loved his family deeply and was a very devoted husband to Linda (Cullum) for 53 years. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, which he loved dearly.

Floyd leaves behind his wife, Linda, of Poplar Bluff; three sons, David (Loretta) Smith, of San Antonio, Texas, Floyd Allen (Kristina) Smith of Pensacola, Florida, and Steve Smith of Poplar Bluff; two brothers, Lloyd and Jonia Smith of Dexter, Missouri; as well as six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Visitation will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, at the Fitch-Hillis chapel, with a graveside service following at 1 p.m., at Dudley Cemetery.
