Wayne County’s fair is in its 15th year and continues to grow with games, crafts, live music, food and animal interactions.
Events were held Oct. 7-8 in Silva. Events during the day were free to all visitors to enjoy, however, once the sun went down and the horses come out, the public did have to pay an admission fee.
The 4-H program started the fair to raise funds and pay for children to sign up for the club. Tody the 4-H program is thriving and the fair board allows local sponsors to help fund the fair. Funds are given back to 4-H as well as Greenville schools, the high school rodeo and other community programs.
The last two years, Chalk Bluff Rodeo has been involved in the fair and brought in great crowds of roughly 500 per night. Before the rodeo, the fair used to have a tractor pull. This year Clearwater Auction joined in the event and raised about $2,000 dollars for their organization.
It is the fair board’s goal to have the rodeo pen open all year long for any participates to enjoy, as long as they have their own insurance.
