The Butler County Senior Citizen Committee is accepting proposals for funding for senior citizens programs through October.

The Butler County Commission appoints the seven-member board of directors who are responsible for fiscal oversite for the county’s Senior Citizens Tax Fund, which provides money for programs to improve the health, nutrition and quality of life of residents who are 60 years old. The board includes Kathy Hyde, president; Susan Williams, secretary; and members, Larry Mizell, Linda Bunting, and Roger Hogg, Freda Wilkerson and Debbie Morgan.

Services may consist of congregate and home-delivered meals, homemaker chore/personal care services, transportation as well as other innovative services.

The tax was passed by Butler County voters in 1990.

An agency applying for funds may contact Susan Williams at 573-776-8312 for an application, which must be returned no later than 5 p.m., Oct. 31, to be considered for funding.
