City firefighters were dispatched at 6:47 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, to a possible structure fire at 1821 N. Fifth St, occupied by tenants Gabrial Young and Mariah Young. According to the report, firefighters were unable to locate a fire. As they investigated the area, a second call was made to dispatch indicating the location at 1821 N. Fifth St. and reporting the fire was out. Firefighters reported they found a neighbor had extinguished a fire under a carport using a garden hose.

City firefighters were dispatched at 10:41 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, to assist following a motor vehicle accident with injuries at Shelby Road and Raider Way. According to the report, everyone was out of the vehicles when firefighters arrived to the two-vehicle accident. Firefighters helped check for injuries and direct traffic. Butler County EMS transported one victim for medical care. Two cars were towed from the scene.

City firefighters were dispatched at 1:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, to a vehicle fire at 1810 Big Bend. The vehicle was owned by Edward McCray. According to fire reports, firefighters deployed a bumper pre-connected line and extinguished the fire. Ladder three arrived at the scene to help with traffic control. 200 gallons of water were used to extinguish the fire. A tow company was later contacted and the truck was removed from the roadway.

City firefighters were dispatched at 7:28 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, to 801 Emma St. after reports were made of an animal stuck in a tree. Engine 33 responded. According to the report, firefighters placed a ladder against the tree and removed the cat before clearing the scene.

City firefighters were dispatched at 4:56 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9, to a possible structure fire at 937 W. Pine St. The two-story apartment complex, according to city fire reports, is owned by Cindy Bowden of Poplar Bluff. En route, responders were updated there was smoke showing from the building, but the occupants were said to be out. Upon arrival, a small fire was located in a kitchen unit of the complex, as well as a bathroom and there appeared to be smoke coming from the basement area. Once it was established the fire had been extinguished and fans were set up in the other apartments, firefighters cleared the scene. The state fire marshal was called to investigate. The water department turned off water to the structure. Residents will be displaced until repairs can be made. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

City firefighters were dispatched at 1:47 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, to a home owned by Austin Boner, located at 625 Old St. According to fire reports, a small fire, which started in a mulch bed, had smoldered until reaching the residence, causing the siding to melt. A neighbor noticed the smoke and extinguished the area before firefighters arrived.
