John was a man of many talents during his lifetime. He attended Western Illinois University, he was a teacher, a farmer, a sporting goods distributor, a real estate broker, a heavy equipment operator, a landlord, and an occasional politician.

He loved golfing and especially duck hunting. John once said he had bagged nearly every species of duck in North America and had each species mounted.

A friend to all who knew him, John will be missed. John is survived by a nephew and niece, Robert and Debra Dilks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou; his brother, Jerry; and his parents, Oliver and Geneva. John was laid to rest next to his wife in Oakhill Cemetery in Watseka, Illinois.
