There’s something for everyone this weekend in the region, from Old Greenville Days in Wayne County, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and SEMOcon in Poplar Bluff and Recharge & Rise Up in Reynolds County, residents will find a variety in this week’s MAIN EVENT.

Historic displays are planned at the 31st Annual Old Greenville days, taking place Saturday and Sunday at the Greenville Recreation Area. The event hosted by the Wappapello Lake Corps of Engineers also includes many family-friendly activities and craft booths.

Families will gather at 10 a.m. Saturday at McLane Park in Poplar Bluff for the opening ceremony of the annual Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The walk will begin at 10:30 a.m. with 16 teams honoring a loved one either living with or who has died from Alzheimer’s. There will also be a Promise Garden with flowers give to walkers with each color corresponding to their connection to the disease.

Another annual event, Recharge & Rise Up, will be held Saturday at Logan Valley Christian Retreat in Ellington. The event starts at 1 p.m. and will include worship with Josh Wilson and guest speaker Duan Lima. There will also be inflatables, rope courses, water slides, food and fellowship.

All of these events are free.

The Sixth Annual SEMOcon offers up multiple guest speakers, activities, a ramen eating contest and more at events being held Friday (1-8 p.m.), Saturday (10 a.m.-8p.m.) and Sunday (10 a.m.-4 p.m.) at the Black River Coliseum. Tickets range from $10 for one day to a family pass for all three days at $60.

Special guests include Hannah Levien of “Supernatural” and David Starwalt of “Star Trek.”

The event is also helping raise money for Hearts for Rescue, a non-profit, all volunteer dog rescue.

— Third Annual Poplar Bluff Train Depot Dinner and Auction, Sept. 24 WHERE Historic depot, 400 S. Main St. COST Tickets are $45 WHAT All proceeds benefit the restoration of the depot. The evening includes live and silent auctions and a catered dinner by Tasteful Creations.

— Free Senior Health Fair, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 27. WHERE Twin Towers apartments at 506 Hazel St. COST Free. WHAT Health screenings, eye glass adjustments, vaccinations, community services, health education, door prizes and more for anyone age 50 or older. Over 50 area businesses will be on site. ID is not required for the event, but visitors are encouraged to bring two forms of identification if they have them.

— Butler County Fair, gates open 5 p.m. Sept. 30 WHERE Ray Clinton Park WHAT Activities will be held Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, with food trucks and vendors on site through the weekend.
