Sen. Roy Blunt met with Ripley County officials recently. He spoke about some of the federal relief options for area farmers hit hard by the summer drought. He discussed the effects of high inflation on residents. The senator also spoke with County Clerk Mike Williams, who asked about the challenges of elections caused by the lack of people willing to serve as election judges.

County Commissioners discussed the new jail project with the senator, and they stressed the importance of federal dollars for road and bridge improvements.

Sheriff Barton discussed the mental health issues he and his officers face every day due to the stress associated with performing their duties. Commissioners thanked the senator and his staff for always being available for questions and always being willing to assist them in any way possible.

Sen. Blunt expressed his appreciation for allowing him to be of service to constituents of Ripley County. He has served in the senate since 2011 and is not seeking re-election.
