Residents have opportunities to support our veterans and join in some patriotic fun this Friday and Saturday.
The Veterans Honor Tour departs from First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff at 7-7:30 a.m. Friday. The organization takes 30 veterans to Washington, D.C. for a three days to visit memorials of the Civil War, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After their sendoff in Poplar Bluff, veterans will be escorted by military and first responders to St. Louis for their flight.
The Labor Day Homecoming Parade in Doniphan invites all to attend and anyone to enter. The entrance fee for participating in the parade is $20 and entry forms are available at the Ripey County Chamber of Commerce, Ripley County Monuments, and Countryside Chevrolet. The parade lineup begins at 9 a.m. and the parade starts at 10 a.m. The theme colors are red, white and blue.
