Ready, aim, click — Pictures by the People is back, and photographers across Southeast Missouri have the chance to win cash prizes and have their work permanently displayed at the Margaret Harwell Art Museum.
MHAM is accepting entries for the show until 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug 2. The exhibition opens Aug. 6, with an ice cream reception at the museum from 1-4 p.m. Entries will be displayed until Aug. 28.
Pictures by the People is open to photographers of all ages and skill levels as long as they live within 100 miles of Poplar Bluff. Photos in black and white or color are welcome as long as the subjects are in good taste.
The show’s grand champion will win the Grand Prize Purchase Award and $100. Their winning photo will become part of the museum’s permanent collection. The following awards are first place at $75, second place with $50 and third place at $25. There is also an Honorable Mention category. Prizes of $50 will be presented to winners in the bonus categories of Selfie, Patriotic, Wildlife/Nature, Black and White, Architecture and Cutest Pet.
Photos may be any size between 8 by 10-inches and 16 by 20 inches. Frames are not required, but all framed pieces need a wire hangar on the back. Photographers can submit up to three pictures. Registration is $5 per adult and $2 per student.

Entries will be accepted by mail or in person during MHAM business hours, weekdays 12-4 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 1-4 p.m.
