Melba Newman, 70, of Hardin, Kentucky, died Sunday, July 24, 2022, in Hardin. Mrs. Newman was born March 18, 1952, in Fisk, Missouri to the late Buck and Clara Cross. On Nov. 4, 1989, she married James Newman. He survives. Also surviving are four children: Johnny (Sheila) Vaira of Romeoville, Illinois, Vicki (Bryan) Roberts of Hardin, Brian (Sandy) Vaira, of Romeoville, Illinois, and David (Paul) Newman of Aldie, Virginia; seven grandchildren: Breanna, McKenna, Mikayla, Samantha, Kendall, Sammi, and Paige; one great-grandchild: Jayden; three brothers: William Cross of Hometown, Illinois, Ernie Cross of Evansville, Indiana, and Verlan Cross of Cabot, Arkansas; and one sister: Dorothy Curnutte of Dexter, Kentucky.. ...

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters: Geneva Fuelner and Bernice Morgan, and one brother: Glen Cross.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2022, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rick White officiating. Burial will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley.
