Three people were seriously injured in an accident Tuesday night when a motorcycle struck a pedestrian on Highway M west of Poplar Bluff.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Randy M. Smith, 46, of Poplar Bluff was operating a 1997 Honda motorcycle eastbound on Highway M at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday when he struck Jesse R. Roller, 28, of Poplar Bluff in the road.

Smith and a passenger on the motorcycle, Vickie L. Lansford, 51, also of Poplar Bluff, both were thrown off the motorcycle as a result of the collision.

Lansford, Roller and Smith all suffered serious injuries in the accident. Roller was transported by Air Evac to St. Louis University Hospital, while Lansford and Smith both were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
