QULIN, Mo. — Richard Loyd Barr, 84, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center, in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Barr was born Friday, Dec. 31, 1937, in Poplar Bluff, son of the late Lloyd and Willie Ira Lee (Harris) Barr. He was a U.S. Navy Seabee with MCB-4 and served two tours in the Vietnam War where he received the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat Valor. Richard was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife: Shiron Barr, of the home; three children: Mark (Kim) Barr of Conway Springs, Kansas, Jim (Danielle) Barr of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Terry (John) Cutburth of Poplar Bluff; five stepchildren: Brian Cole and Tonya Cryer, both of Poplar Bluff, Christie Casada of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Phyllis Griffin Dolores of El Paso, Texas, and Sonia Griffin Shelton of Eureka, Missouri; one sister: Gracie Lea Bailey of Wappapello, Missouri, one brother: James (Sheila) Barr of Benton, Missouri; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by nine siblings.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 18, 2022, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Qulin. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at the Qulin Cemetery with full military honors.
