Johnathon B. Thurman, 21, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed from this Earth into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

JT was born on Feb. 9, 2001, to Randal and Tammy House Thurman in Poplar Bluff.

JT was a pharmacy technician at CVS pharmacy in Poplar Bluff. He was an excellent athlete who loved participating in baseball, basketball, golf, and pretty much any activity where his competitive side could come alive. Johnathon was saved by the Grace of God at age 10. He was a member of the West Side Church in Poplar Bluff and was heavily active in the church’s youth ministry. He was accepted into the Grace Family of Churches residency program and was set to begin Aug. 1. JT brought joy to all those he encountered, whether that meant a friendly smile at the drive thru window of the pharmacy or sharing his love of Christ with the younger crowd. God has called one of his soldiers home, but Johnathon will truly be missed here on Earth. Until we see you again, our son, brother, and dear friend.

JT is survived by his father, Randal; sister, Ashley (James) Koonce; brother, Parker (Caitlynn) Thurman; nephews, Damien, and Dorian Koonce; nieces, Draven and Delilah Koonce and Sophia Thurman.

Johnathon was preceded by his mother, Tammy.

Visitation will be held 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Palace of Praise Church in Poplar Bluff. Funeral service will follow beginning at noon with Pastor Jason Jordan officiating. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens, where he will be laid to rest next to his mother.

Memorial contributions may be made to West Side Youth, 2807 Channon Drive, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.
