“It’s not a philosophical book. It’s just a Truth book,” said Poplar Bluff native Kevin Quaite, who recently released his first book, “A Day with Dad Equals a Lifetime with the Father.”
“It’s probably been 15 years ago now. I had the idea for the book, but it was put on the back burner,” Quaite said. “I started out writing poetry. I just wasn’t ready to write a book at that age, which would have been 22. And I just never had the commitment to do it.”
Quaite said as the years went on, “God really got a hold of my heart. And about two years ago, he said, ‘If you write this book, I’ll give you everything you wanted.’ And honestly, within three months, I had half of it done and started dating a girl. We got married and now we have twins.”
When asked what his inspiration was for the book, Quaite said that he would like to see the importance of fathers in the role of the family be brought back.
“My viewpoint is that (since the) mid 90s and later, if you see media and watch television, they’ve cut dads out of the picture,” Quaite said. “Your kids look to you for everything, no matter what. And that was my dad, you know. I wanted to be just like him, but that’s the main importance that I want people to get.
“Eventually we all grow up physically, but it’s how we grow emotionally and spiritually that separates us from the rest. Most of us have someone in our lives that have been their to helps grow in those ways. Thankfully I had my dad, pastors, and Godly friends to help me in my journey and now I have my beautiful and loving wife Kelly, and two wonderful twins. Allyson and Benjamin.”
When asked if he intends to write any more books, Quaite responded proudly that he was at this point too busy with his current blessings to start another book, but he will consider the prospect in the future.
“This is a family book, and there to help and encourage anybody,” Quaite said. “From a father’s perspective, we always want to see our kids do the best they can, but if we are not there to help and encourage them how can we point them towards their potential. We are their role models and their first best friend; they count on us for everything. So, it is our duty to point them in the right direction”
Quaite’s book is now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble website.
“I am just going to places right now trying to get in the store at Barnes and Noble,” Quaite said. “And hopefully Walmart. This is just coming out.
“I tell everybody don’t buy it and think it’s gonna be so deep you can’t understand it, it’s really simple.”
