Robert Hastings Sr., 89, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away July 01, 2022 at Beaufort Nursing and Rehab (Bayview) in Beaufort, South Carolina.

Robert was born Dec. 1, 1932 ,to Fred and Mary Kaffenberger Hastings in Rombauer, Missouri. He married Edna Fann Aug. 28, 1954 in Hernando, Mississippi. She preceded him in death. They were married for 57 years.

Robert was a retired jet engine mechanic in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed photography visiting wildlife refuges, and woodworking. He was an avid bluebird house builder, suppling over 3000 houses to the residents of Poplar Bluff. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Robert is survived by four children, Rancy Hastings and wife, Sandy, of St. Louis, Missouri, Debbie Hooks and husband Dennis, of Ash, North Carolina, Robert Hastings Jr. and wife, Roxie, of Rincon, Georgia, and Julie Kirkley and husband, Rick, of Poplar Bluff; five grandsons, Robert Hastings, III and wife, Maggie, of Cummings, Georgia. Shannon Hastings and wife. Shera, of Martin, Georgia, Sean Hastings of Rincon, Georgia. Ryan Hastings and wife, Tracy, of Clawson, MIchigan, and Matthew Kirkley of Poplar Bluff; two great-grandsons, Tyler Hastings of Cummiings, Georgia, and Shannon Hastings Jr. of Martin, Georgia.

Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by five siblings: James, Fred, Ellen Hastings, Helen Venable, and Pansy Maize, as well as one great-grandson, Robert Hasting IV.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. July 11, 2022, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Rombauer Cemetery in Rombauer, Missouri.
