A 29-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 1:20 p.m. Friday, June 3, on Interstate 55, seven miles south of Scott City.
According to the report, Reece W. Felty, 20, of Chaffee was operating a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox northbound when it struck the rear of a 2013 Honda CRV operated by Cody L. Switzer, 25, of Fairdealing.
A passenger in Switzer’s vehicle, Jamie L. Carter, 29, of Qulin was transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Luther C. Smothers, 57, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 3:20 p.m. Friday, June 3, in Stoddard County on a Butler County felony probation violation warrant and on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the Stoddard County jail.

A 75-year-old woman sustained moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 9:20 p.m. Friday, June 3, at 39906 Dorothy Street in Malden.
According to the report, Rachel F. Loyd, 75, of Malden left her 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer in reverse and it rolled backwards over her, then struck a parked 2012 Chevrolet Cruze.
Loyd was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

A 64-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle accident at 1 a.m. Saturday, June 4, on Interstate 55 near Matthews.
According to the report, Gregory A. Davies, 64, of Knox, Ind. was operating a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 northbound when it pulled into the path of a northbound 2015 Volvo operated by Francis Caccavano, 53, of Hernando, Miss.
Davies was pronounced dead at the scene by New Madrid County coroner George DeLisle at 2 a.m. He is the 27th fatality in Troop E this year.

Glen C. Arnold, 45, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 10:26 a.m. Saturday, June 4, in Butler County on a Carter County felony warrant for assault and witness tampering and on suspicion of no valid driver’s license. He was booked at the Butler County jail.

Seth T. McDowell, 18, of Fredericktown was arrested at 5:02 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in Reynolds County on suspicion of being a visibly intoxicated minor (blood alcohol content more than 0.02%) and failure to stop at a stop sign. He was released.

Robert B. Baysinger, 31, of Ellington was arrested at 8:49 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in Reynolds County on suspicion of unlawful use of a UTV on a highway, unlawful use of a UTV under the influence, resisting arrest and DWI. He was booked at the Reynolds County jail on a 12-hour hold.

A 23-year-old man sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, June 5, on Highway U, one mile west of Bernie.
According to the report, Brandon C. Hurst, 23, of Bernie was operating a 2014 Nissan Rogue westbound when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole.
Hurst was taken by private conveyance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Kevin D. Irby, 37, of Qulin was arrested at 11:05 p.m. Sunday, June 5, in Stoddard County on a Cape Girardeau Police failure to appear warrant for trespassing and on suspicion of DWI (drugs), driving while suspended or revoked and exceeding the posted speed limit. He was released.

POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
Firefighters responded at 7:33 a.m. Friday, June 4, to Westwwood Baptist Church, 419 County Road 5231, to an unintentional alarm system activation. According to the report, dispatch also contacted Butler County Fire as well since the church is in the county. Firefighters met with a church member who had just arrived and when disabling the alarm accidentally activated the fire alarm. PBFD left when Butler County firefighters arrived.

Firefighters responded to an unauthorized burn at 11:02 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at 821 Cedar St. According to the report, they used 200 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters responded to an unauthorized burn at Wallace and Davis Streets w at 1:43 a.m. Sunday, June 5, where they found an article of clothing burning in the roadway. According to the report, they used the booster line and two gallons of water to put out the fire.

Firefighters responded to a system malfunction at 3:58 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Northwest Medical Center, 2210 Barron Road. According to the report, nothing was showing on arrival. Firefighters attempted to entered the building, but it was secured to it being after hours. Dispatch made an attempt to contact a key holder but did not have a working number. A power outage was believed to cause the alarm to go off.

Firefighters responded at 9 p.m. at 3:58 p.m. Sunday, June 5, to 11th Street and Park Avenue to a call for an unauthorized burn. According to the report, the crew checked the area and could not find any fire or the smell of smoke.
