Firefighters from three stations responded to a reported structure fire at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, at 1303 N. 10th St. The call bad been by a child reportedly outside the building. The address was not good. The firefighters spoke to area residents.

Firefighters responded at 8:21 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, to 2425 Covington Meadows, where occupants smelled a gas odor. Occupants were outside on the driveway when firefighters arrived.

The crew entered the home and checked the water heater and furnace area for any signs of gas. No combustible gas leaks were found. The firefighters were told the hot water heater had not been working all day. A check showed the water heater pilot light was out.

The tenant, Twajuana Craig, was told to contact the owner Greg West and if the tenant ever needs to call firefighters to do so.

Kay S. Chaffin, 44, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Tuesday, May 31, on a warrant for a parole violation.

Robert L. Cline, 40, of Fisk was booked at the Butler County jail Tuesday, May 31, on suspicion of contempt.

Craig M. Sopko, 42, of Fairdealing was booked at the Butler County jail Tuesday, May 31, on a failure to appear warrant for possession of marijuana.

Gabriel H. Womack, 33, of Pacific was booked at the Butler County jail Tuesday, May 31, on a writ of habeas corpus.

Brandon J. Brittingham, 33, of Fisk was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 1, on a parole violation warrant.

James C. Conner, 31, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 1, on suspicion of burglary.

Bobby J. Cooper, 45, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 1, on a Ripley County warrant for non-support.

Curtis J. Hesselrode, 42, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 1, on suspicion of second-degree burglary.

Sandra Pennington, 40, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 1, on suspicion of second degree burglary.

Gary H. Reed, 49, of Poplar Bluff was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 1, on a warrant for driving while revoked or suspended.

Tabatha L. Williams, 51, of Neelyville was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, June 1, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

A 52-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, on County Road 306, one-half mile east of Poplar Bluff.

According to the report, Christine A. Shannon, 52, of Greenwood, Ark. was operating a 2003 Lincoln Town Car eastbound when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a ditch.

Shannon was transported by Butler County EMS to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Dennis L. Jones, 57, of Malden was arrested at 8:33 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, in Stoddard County on suspicion of felony DWI (persistent offender), possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while revoked, failure to display valid plates and failure to signal. He was booked at the Stoddard County jail on a 24-hour hold.

An 18-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, on County Road 521, seven miles north of Poplar Bluff.

According to the report, Erin N. Fiske, 18, of Poplar Bluff was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Fiske was transported by private conveyance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Robin L. Russell, 33, of Corning, Ark. was arrested at 5:48 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, in Ripley County on suspicion of DWI, failure to maintain the right half of the road and no seat belt. She was released.
