The Butler County Community Resource Council is holding its 23rd annual Job Fair 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, at the Black River Coliseum. Attendees can meet representatives of 60 businesses and take on-site interviews — and maybe even win a $25 gas card. Admission is free.
CRC Executive Director Rebeca Pacheco said the event is a great opportunity for anyone job-seeking or considering a career change.
“This is a great opportunity to come in and talk with the different employers to get a feel for what some of those different industries or sectors would be like,” she said.
Businesses span the fields of health care, government, manufacturing, transportation, social services, education and more. Among them are FCC Behavioral Health, Missouri Job Corps, Poplar Bluff R-I and Three Rivers College, Briggs & Stratton and Pepsi MidAmerica. Some employers hired on the spot last year, so Pacheco encourages attendees to put their best foot forward.
“I just want to remind job seekers, if they have a resume to be sure and bring it, to be prepared to talk about their skills with the different employers, to collect business cards, take notes.”
The Job Fair is sponsored by Parents Working Committee in conjunction with Three Rivers College, Missouri Job Center and South Central Missouri Community Action Agency. Parents Working Committee also bought a handful of gas cards to be raffled off among people who visit five or more booths.
