Business humorist Christine Cashen of Dallas, Texas, will be the keynote speaker Thursday, Sept. 22, for the 2022 Women Aware Conference, at the Black River Coliseum.
Conference keynote chairperson Tracy Tarpley wanted someone dynamic and interesting, that would appeal to all women of various ages and walks of life when she saw Cashen’s webpage.
“She was business-related but when you watch her videos on her webpage she is also funny and relatable,” Tarpley said. “When we did the phone interview, we just clicked.”
While Tarpley interviewed another candidate and “she was nice, but I could tell right away she wasn’t going to work for our organization and conference. With Christine, it was like visiting with an old friend and not a keynote speaker interview.”
Cashen is originally from a small town so she understands that vibe and mentality of small town living, even though she lives outside of Dallas currently, Tarpley said.
“She is a mom who juggles life and work like a lot of us do and can relate to a lot of our women,” Tarpley said. “She was super excited about being involved with a Christian-based organization that caters to the women of the community and wanted to be involved with the process/conference full tilt.”
Cashen has met the induction criteria of the National Speakers Association, Council of Peers Award for Excellence (CPAE) Speaker Hall of Fame and is a Certified Virtual Presenter.
She is the author of the award-winning books, “THE GOOD STUFF: Quips & Tips on Life, Love, Work and Happiness” and “It’s YOUR Business: Good Stuff for Your Personal, Professional, and Funny Business.”
Cashen holds a bachelor’s degree in communication and a master’s degree in adult education. In 2016, she was the recipient of an honorary doctorate from Central Michigan University. According to her biography, before embarking on her journey as a speaker, Cashen worked as a university admissions officer, corporate trainer and broadcaster. She is a mother of two, wife of a “hottie engineer,” and an average golfer.
Along with being involved with Women Aware, Tarpley is the district manager for Productive Staffing.
