One teenager was killed and another seriously injured in a pair of weekend accidents in Butler and Ripley counties, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The first accident occurred at 3:15 p.m. Saturday on County Road 524, seven miles north of Poplar Bluff.
According to the MSHP, a 16-year-old boy from Poplar Bluff was operating a 2003 Toyota Tacoma westbound, ran off the right side of the road and overturned.
The boy was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:56 p.m. by Dr. Brett Schupack. His death is the 20th in Troop E this year.
The second accident occurred at 1:45 a.m. Sunday on Highway 142, 11 miles west of Doniphan.
According to the MSHP, a 16-year-old boy from Doniphan was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado westbound when it ran off the road, struck an embankment and overturned.
The boy sustained serious injuries and was transported by Air Ambulance to Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee.
