The Neelyville R-IV School board reorganized Thursday, April 14, swearing in newly elected members and electing officers.
Incumbent Jill McGruder and new member Vernon Barker were sworn in while Paul Petty was re-elected as president and Bobby Burgett as vice president.
Petty has been on the board since 2014 and Burgett since 2020.
Board members also approved faculty reassignments, along with hirings and resignations.
“A huge thanks to those who (took reassignment) at the request of the district in order to have certified faculty in place or to better meet the needs of our students,” said Superintendent Debra Parish.
Faculty members reassigned include: Tammie Faughn from sixth grade to high school resource; Susan Cooper from fourth to third grade; Heather Horne from pre-algebra/algebra to math; Nicole Burdin from elementary physical education to pre-algebra/algebra; and Chelsey Cosgrove from fifth to sixth grade.
Newly hired employees are: Beth Tutor for process coordinator; James Drake McGrew for English and language arts; Milagros Tenorio for fourth grade; Sydney Greenwall for fifth grade; Travis Hale for assistant high school boys basketball coach; and Daniel Sexton as assistant high school girls basketball coach.
All classified staff were rehired.
The board accepted the resignation of custodian Tim Hollinger and hired Joshua Abbott and Bonnie Hollinger as custodians.
In other business, Butler County Emergency Management affiliated storm spotters Jerry Buhler and Craig Meador requested they be allowed to install a weather camera on the school’s communication tower. They reported there is no cost to the district and it will not interfere with communication. The board agreed pending a written agreement which would include a removal clause by the district if requested.
The board continued to discuss the approximately 41 surveys submitted and complaints.
The board agreed the superintendent could request bus bids. The board again approved the SRCSP as advised to do so each month.
A thank-you card was presented from the Don Hover family.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 19.
