Deputies were dispatched Sunday, April 3, to the 100 block of County Road 482 in reference to a burglary. According to the report, resident Danny Lovins reported unknown person(s) entered his residence by force while he was out and his wife, Carol Lovins was asleep. According to the report multiple items were missing and damage was done to the residence. No suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

Charges were filed Wednesday, April 6, against Kersey Black of Neelyville for failing to register as a sex offender.

Deputies were dispatched Thursday, April 7, to the 300 block of County Road 630 in reference to a burglary. Angela Boyd and Nilma Gittemier reported several items were missing from their property. Investigation is ongoing.

POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT

Firefighters responded to an alarm at 10:56 p.m. Friday, April 8, to 1606 N 5th St. in reference to a structure fire. According to the report, once on scene, firefighters were notified an occupant was still inside the residence. Front door entry was made and firefighters found fire emitting from a couch and a pile of clothes. No occupant was inside the structure. The fire was extinguished and no other hot spots were indicated. Occupant was later found sheltering at a neighboring house and transported and treated by EMS for smoke inhalation and observation.

Firefighters responded to alarms at 10:09 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at 2507 and 2513 Sunset Terrace. According to the report, both alarms found to be false and were triggered by a power outage.

Firefighters responded to an alarm at 11:21 a.m. Saturday, April 9, in reference to a vehicle fire at the corner of Highway B and U.S. Highway 60. According to the report, no occupant found in or near the vehicle and firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Firefighters responded to an alarm at 5:28 p.m. Saturday, April 9, to 2303 Meadow Road in reference to a grass fire on the hillside of the Department of Natural Resources building. According to the report, two sheds housed at 2205 Meadows Road were also threatened by the spreading fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before any damage to surrounding structures occurred. A burning leaf pile was found to be the cause.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

A 22-year-old man sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 5:20 p.m. Friday, April 8, on Highway 21, four miles south of Arcadia.

According to the report, Jeremy L. Francis, 22, of Poplar Bluff was operating a 2010 Ford F-150 northbound when it traveled off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and then struck several trees.

Francis was transported by ambulance to Iron County Medical Center in Pilot Knob.

Taylin D. Leija, 23, of Dexter was arrested at 1:46 a.m. Saturday, April 9, in Stoddard County on suspicion of DWI (alcohol) and failure to drive on the right half of the road. She was released.

Dana K. Rudd, 48, of Piedmont was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, in Butler County on suspicion of DWI (drugs), careless and imprudent driving, failure to register a motor vehicle and no insurance. She was booked at the Butler County jail on a 12-hour hold.

A 40-year-old woman sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 12:05 a.m. Sunday, April 10, on U.S. Highway 67, nine miles north of Silva.

According to the report, Melissa G. Wesmolan, 40, of Piedmont was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu northbound when it traveled off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

Wesmolan was taken by ambulance to Madison Memorial Medical Center in Fredericktown.

Tony C. Leezer, 32, of Naylor was arrested at 8:16 p.m. Sunday, April 10, in Butler County on suspicion of DWI, speeding, no insurance and failure to register with the Department of Revenue. He was booked at the Butler County jail on a 12-hour hold.

A 38-year-old man sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 3:05 a.m. Monday, April 11, on Highway 142, three miles south of Poplar Bluff.

According to the report, Doyle M. Brooks, 38, of Poplar Bluff was operating a 2002 Lincoln LS northbound when it traveled off the road, then struck a utilty pole and a fence.

Brooks was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
