City firefighters responded at 9:48 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, to 2337 N. Main St. to a mischievous false call where a child had set off the alarm.

City firefighters responded at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, to an unauthorized burning at 113 South C St. Firefighters responded to smoke in the area of 600 block of Bartlett Street when they found trash being burned in the 100 block of South C St. They used 15 gallons of water to put out the fire.

City firefighters responded at 6:44 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, to Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home, 844 Cedar St., to assist in lifting someone into an emergency medical services vehicle.

City firefighters responded at 7:01 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, to 846 Hart St., to what they thought was an unauthorized grass fire, but found an authorized controlled burn.

City firefighters responded at 2:08 a.m. Thursday, March 17, a possible burning order at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, 3100 Oak Grove Road. They checked the area and there was no sins of fire.

City firefighters responded to 921 W. Harper St. at 6:34 a.m. Thursday, March 17, to an activated smoke detector but there was no fire. The smoke detector had been activated by cooking.
BUTLER COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT
County firefighters responded at 12:12 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, to 352 County Road 517 to a field fire that burned four acres owned by Jim Crum.
POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT
Tashanda Fairley, 45, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 2:32 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at J.C. Penney Co., 500 block of South Westwood Blvd. on suspicion of stealing and possession of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Butler County jail.

The manager at Godfather’s Pizza reported at 2:37 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, a forged check was used to pay for a food order.

Justin Smith was issued a summons at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, for allegedly assaulting someone in the 800 block of North Main Street. He was released.

Sean Hanning, 27, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, in the 300 block of West Vine street on a failure to appear warrant on an original charge of dangerous drugs.

Demario Lane, 36, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 2:02 a.m. Thursday, March 17, on suspicion of domestic assault second degree armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. He was booked into the Butler County jail.
